  • You do not need a referral to be seen at Tapestry but referrals are always welcome. However, it is recommended that you check with your insurance provider prior to your first visit to see if a physician referral is required for coverage.

  • Tapestry does not provide emergency services. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please visit your nearest emergency room or reach out to 24/7 crisis services. 

    If you are in immediate danger or need urgent medical support, call 9-1-1. 

    If you or someone you know is thinking about suicide, call or text 9-8-8. 

    For children, youth, and young adults (ages 5-29), you can call 1-800-668-6868 (toll-free) or text CONNECT to 686868.

  • Psychological services are fully or partially covered by most extended health insurance plans or workplace benefits but are not covered by OHIP at the present time. Please consult your individual healthcare insurance plan to determine the extent of coverage provided. Fees paid out-of-pocket are tax-deductible.

    Mental health services, including therapy, are also eligible for purchase for those registered and receiving funding through the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) core clinical services funding program.     Payment for service is due at the end of each session. You will be provided with a receipt.  Credit card and e-transfers are the currently accepted methods of payment.

  • At Tapestry, privacy and confidentiality of your personal information are of utmost importance. Our clinicians comply with the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) as well as all their professional standards.

    The following are some of the steps are taken to protect personal health information:

    • Our clinic uses a secure, web-based practice management system to store and manage client personal information and clinical records. The system is Jane - please visit their website for more information: https://jane.app/features/security-and-reliability

    • Hard copy files and any electronic hardware are secured in a locked filing cabinet that only the staff can access.

    • Electronic information is stored on computers and electronic devices with encryption and password protection.

    • When necessary, any paper documents containing personal information are destroyed via shredding; cloud-based or electronic information is permanently deleted.

    • Treatment services that are being offered via video sessions are conducted on a secure web-based platform.

    No information will be communicated, directly or indirectly, to a third party without your written informed consent. There are some limits to confidentiality which will be discussed in your initial appointment.

  • Your appointment time is specifically reserved for you. If you need to cancel or change a session, please provide as much notice as you can. If less than 24 hours is provided, you will be charged the full hourly rate for the missed session.

  • Tapestry aims to create a welcoming and inclusive environment. Please note the following details regarding our space:

    • Our office is on the second floor of a building; there are 21 stairs. Unfortunately, there is no lift or elevator. Should you wish to see your clinician in person and require an accessible building, arrangements can be made.

    • There are washrooms but unfortunately, they are not gender-neutral.

    • Though our space is not specifically scent-free, we do not regularly use scents.

    • Overhead lights in our space are fluorescent, however we have non-fluorescent lamps in our therapy rooms.
