Meet the Practitioners

Dr. Laura Goodman, PhD

Dr. Laura Goodman (she/her) is a Registered Psychologist with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Dalhousie University. She completed her residency at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Before founding Tapestry, she spent 10 years in the public sector developing and providing clinical services for neurodivergent clients.

Laura specializes in differential diagnostic assessments and therapy for children, youth, and adults with various mental health, trauma-based, and neurodevelopmental disorders. She is dedicated to parent coaching and providing consultation and training for other service providers.

Laura’s practice is evidence-based, with a focus on dialectical-behavioral (DBT) and cognitive-behavioral (CBT) treatments grounded in a strong therapeutic relationship. Laura understands that neurobiological differences, trauma, illness, and the demands of daily life can make sitting with painful emotions challenging. Her work often focuses on helping people learn to examine and accept their emotions and act in ways that improve their lives.

Laura believes in the possibility of change and champions hope, neuroaffirming care, trauma competency, and anti-oppressive practice in her work.
